Côte Chalonnaise
Côte Chalonnaise, located in Burgundy, France, is known for its high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The region has received a lot of attention lately due to its promixity to the Cote d'Or but its more reasonable pricing structure. Côte Chalonnaise is divided into several appellations, including Mercurey, Givry, and Rully, each producing distinct styles. The wines are characterized by their balance, freshness, and high quality. Mercurey is particularly noted for its robust Pinot Noirs, while Rully is celebrated for its elegant Chardonnays similar in style to those of Meursault. The wines from Côte Chalonnaise can offer excellent value. It is also one of the few places where the Aligote grape is designated as the core grape varietal for an appellation as in the case of Bouzeron.
