Description

Deep and lively garnet color. The nose quickly reveals a great complexity. Black currant, sweet orange peels and spices aromas brought by the petit verdot, used for the first time in the blending of Château Pédesclaux. Aeration enables to assess the whole aromatic range marked by liquorice, cinnamon and cardamom. A beautiful volume in mouth with gingerbread and mild tobacco notes, typical of the great Pauillac terroirs. The tannins, suave and silky, show a beautiful balance between strength, elegance and subtlety.. Château Pédesclaux was created in 1810 by Mr Pierre Urbain Pédesclaux. In 1855, Château Pédesclaux was classified a 5th great growth. In 1891 it was sold to the count of Gastebois who fully restructured the property. Pédesclaux remained in the Gastebois lineage for 3 generations before being purchased by Lucien Jugla in 1950. In 2009 the property was bought by Mr. Lorenzetti, owner of Château Lilian-Ladouys. In his short time there Lorenzetti has injected new life into the ancient estate. A complete reorganization of the vineyard, the acquisition of new plots, a vast program of replanting, updated equipment and new, experienced members of the team are all indicators of the excellent vintages to come from this Cru Classé
