Description

Slight hints of wax, earth and lemon show on the still-shy nose. The palate is equally reticent, tightly coiled but speaking of concentrated citrus freshness that verges into zestiness. The bone-dry nature makes it hard to sense ripe citrus slumbering at the core but the fruit will reveal itself with bottle age. Concentration, purity and power promise a future firework, discernible now in the tangerine zestiness on the finish. Drink 2025–2050. — Anne Krebiehl MW

Alsace

Alsace, in northeastern France, is acclaimed for its aromatic white wines, particularly Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris. The region’s cool climate and diverse soils contribute to the high acidity and intense flavors of its wines. Alsace Rieslings are known for their precision and minerality, while Gewürztraminer offers exotic spice and floral notes. Pinot Gris from Alsace is rich and full-bodied, with flavors of stone fruit and honey. The region also produces excellent sparkling Crémant d’Alsace. Alsace wines are versatile and food-friendly, pairing well with a variety of dishes from seafood to spicy cuisine.
