Description

Chateau Leoville Las Cases is one of the most emblematic estates in the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation on the Left Bank of the Bordeaux region, with vintage after vintage achieving the highest levels of excellence and elegance. Recognized as one of the oldest estates in the Medoc, the heritage of Chateau Leoville Las Cases is based on a long winemaking tradition. Awarded the title of 2nd Cru Classe in the Official Classification of 1855, the quality excellence of Leoville Las Cases earned it the title of 1er des Seconds Crus. Chateau Leoville Las Cases was acquired by the Delon family at the end of the 19th century, and has been managed by Jean-Hubert Delon ever since, demonstrating exceptional consistency of quality since the 1970s. The strength of this emblematic estate, recognizable by the Leonine statue adorning the entrance gate, lies in its exceptional terroir. The 55 hectares of Chateau Leoville Las Cases are planted within the famous Clos de Leoville, whose complexity constitutes a veritable mosaic of terroirs. Situated close to the Gironde, the vineyard benefits from the river's role as a thermal regulator, guaranteeing mild temperatures and providing a barrier against frost. Combined with the presence of Gunz gravel soils on gravelly-sandy subsoils with more or less deep clay, the terroir of Chateau Leoville Las Cases is the source of exceptional vintages, with the emblematic black grape variety of the Left Bank, Cabernet Sauvignon (61%), dominating the vineyard. Merlot (21%) and Cabernet Franc (16%) also achieve the quintessence of their personality on this great terroir. Derived from the terroirs established according to the old land register of the Domaine de Leoville, Le Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de Las Cases combines the complexity and unique character of the Clos Leoville Las Cases. A monument of structure, at the peak of aromatic refinement and nobility on the palate, Le Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de Las Cases displays a personality of unique singularity, leaving an indelible imprint on the memory of purists. Born at the dawn of the 2007 vintage, Le Petit Lion has established itself, like its predecessors, as a cru with a personality of its own. In a blend with a higher proportion of Merlot, Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases illustrates the philosophy and constant quest for excellence that drives the estate, offering an intense expression of fresh fruit.
