Description

Château Grand Mayne is a veritable vessel in the middle of a sea of vines in the heart of Saint-Émilion. Built in the 15th century, it only took on its wine-making role in the 17th century when the Laveau family took over the reins of the estate. From the 18th century onwards, these enthusiasts succeeded brilliantly in taking the vineyard and the estate to new heights of excellence. In 1934, the Nony family took over the château and undertook major renovation work. Today, the Nony family, still at the helm of Château Grand Mayne, take great care in maintaining this estate, which is a must among the elite of Bordeaux wines.

Château Grand Mayne stretches across 19 hectares to the west of Saint-Émilion. Here, vines averaging 35 years old and planted with 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon are deeply rooted in clay-limestone and sandy soil. This geological mosaic is what makes the vineyards so special, and leads to the production of wines with a variety of aromatic expression. The climate is typical of the region. Conditions are mild and temperate thanks to the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean.

To capture the full expression of this great terroir, Château Grand Mayne uses precise winemaking techniques. As a result, the estate's two wines, Château Grand Mayne and Les Plantes du Mayne, have a style marked by unrivalled balance, finesse and intensity.
